I love Angelina Jolie she is amazing

This post is to just give a nod to the always alluring Angelina Jolie and her humanatarian efforts. She is an example of how to stand up for what you believe in.

(KP International) Angelina Jolie is said to be planning a large ad in her own words to run in USA Today to bring attention to mass killings taking place in Darfur, Sudan.
"I chose to take out this ad because when Congress returns from recess [on April 24] they have the chance to fully fund peacekeepers in Darfur," said Jolie. "The situation in Darfur has been going on far too long. It's only getting worse. Reports are pouring in about mass atrocities including children getting raped and killed. If people are aware of the facts, I believe many will be driven to action."
Jolie has asked anyone interested in supporting the campaign to visit www.genocideintervention.net.
In between fighting for various causes or working as a UN goodwill ambassador, and after she gives birth to her first child with boyfriend
Brad Pitt, Jolie is rumoured to begin her training to reprise her role as Lara Croft for the third time. "Angelina is already in training to make sure she gets rid of her post-pregnant bulge," said a source. "She wants to be in tip-top shape and look better in Lara's outfit than ever."
Jolie and Pitt are currently in Namibia with their kids.

A whale of a tale

Whale swims up Thames River through London, delighting startled spectators

LONDON (AP) - It's a whale of a tale: a bottle-nosed whale swimming up the River Thames past Big Ben and Parliament on Friday as rows of worried Londoners looked on.

(AP/Tom Hevezi) The whale was spotted in the afternoon as it flailed around in the murky waters of the Thames, stirring up patches of what looked like blood as seagulls hovered above and rescue boats stood at the ready. It was the first sighting of a Northern bottle-nosed whale in the river since British whale-watching records began in 1913.
Witness Tom Howard-Vyne said he saw the mammal swim under Westminster Bridge, near Big Ben. "I saw it blow. It was a spout of water which sparkled in the air," said Howard-Vyne. "It was an amazing sight."
Other witnesses reported seeing a second whale in another part of the river Friday, and marine experts spotted two disoriented whales off northeastern Scotland last week, suggesting something was causing bottle-nosed whales to become confused.
"It is a race against time to save the animal," said Alison Shaw, marine and freshwater conservation program manager at the Zoological Society of London.
A small armada of rescue boats frantically searched for the mammal, but it was lost from view around sunset, when it dived under water.
Crews barricaded a section of river in an attempt to force the animal to change course. It was unclear if their efforts were a success.
"A whale in the shallow water of the River Thames is like a human lost in the heat of the Sahara desert. It's just not made for these conditions," said Laila Sadler, scientific officer at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
"We are worried that it will survive only for 24 to 48 hours if it doesn't head back to sea. It also seems to be in distress, it has already made two seemingly deliberate attempts to beach itself."
A rescue boat equipped with a cradle is on standby in case the creature beaches itself and another is fitted with a net, which could be used to drag the animal downriver.
Witnesses reported seeing injuries to the whale, which was an estimated five metres long, and said its snout was bloodied. Photos also appeared to show damage to one of the whale's eyes and a number of cuts to its torso, though Sadler said these are not uncommon.
Several onlookers jumped into the 9 C water, splashing to try to coax the mammal away from shore. Members of the Whale Watch conservation group also ferried across the river to assess its condition.
Bottle-nosed whales normally live in the northern Atlantic, diving deeply and travelling in pods. They can reach eight metres long, the size of a red double-decker London bus.
When sick, old or injured, whales often get disoriented and swim away from their pod, said Mark Simmonds, science director at the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society.
Last week, marine officials said they saw two bottle-nosed whales in northeastern Scotland when the mammals are normally seen in northwestern Scotland. That, coupled with the sighting Friday of a second whale in a different part of the Thames, could suggest that something is disrupting the whales, said Sadler.
There are many possible reasons whales become disoriented. Scientists have said fluctuating ocean temperatures, predators, lack of food and even sonar from ships can send them into waters that threaten their survival.
"It's used to using acoustics to find its way around. What will happen is that the reflection from the noise from boats, from water lapping up around, will ring inside the whale's head," said Tony Martin, a senior scientist with the British Antarctic Survey.
"It's going to be very confused. It's already stranded twice. The poor creature doesn't know where to go."
Friday's sighting drew hundreds of people and scores of television crews to the river's banks. Television screens carried pictures of the whale for most of the day, captivating Londoners who called radio and television stations asking if they could help.
It was the first time a Northern bottle-nosed whale has been seen in the Thames since the Natural History Museum began recording such sightings in 1913, museum zoologist Richard Sabin said.
He said bottle-nosed whales rarely swim in water as shallow as the Thames, which has an average depth of between six and eight metres.
A minke whale was sighted in the Thames about six years ago, but not as far upstream.
"I am very concerned for the safety of this animal at the moment, particularly if boat traffic increases in the river," said Sadler.

Cyclops cat had one eye, no nose
Jan. 11, 2006. 03:09 PM
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A photo of a one-eyed kitten named Cy drew more than a little skepticism when it turned up on various websites, but medical authorities have a name for the bizarre condition.
Holoprosencephaly causes facial deformities, said the U.S. National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke, part of the National Institutes of Health. In the worst cases, a single eye is located where the nose should be, the institute's website said.
Traci Allen said the kitten she named Cy, short for Cyclops, was born the night of Dec. 28 with the single eye and no nose.
"You don't expect to see something like that," the 35-year-old Allen said by telephone from her home in Redmond in central Oregon.
Allen said she stayed up all night with the deformed kitten on her recliner, feeding Cy a liquid formula through a syringe. She said she cared for the kitten the next day as well, until it died that evening.
Allen had taken digital pictures she provided to The Associated Press. Some bloggers have questioned the authenticity of the photo distributed Jan. 6.
AP regional photo editor Tom Stathis said he took extensive steps to confirm the one-eyed cat was not a hoax. Stathis had Allen ship him the memory card that was in her camera. On the card were a number of pictures — including holiday snapshots and four pictures of a one-eyed kitten. The kitten pictures showed the animal from different perspectives.
Fabricating those images in sequence and in the camera's original picture format, from the varying perspectives, would have been virtually impossible, Stathis said.

Reflection

This is a work in progress:

Sorrow presses down on me
It is through altered eyes I see
the glaring flaws of a blurred distorted world
Lost and disjointed I wander around
Not quite awake but not quite sleeping
Jealousy has poisened me and I am barely breathing
Looking for what is lost but I can't remember what that was
Slowly fading into the madness of the present
forgetting the vibrance of who I was during my descent
becoming used to being ignored, an afterthought
Willing myself to dissapear
to see myself reduced to nothing
Nothing would be better than this half hearted existance
Tears escape from me like refugees carrying the weight of my distress
I gather the growing darkness, pulling it like a cloak around me
To protect me from the being blinded by the glare of harsh reality
I shudder and feel I am shrinking growing smaller day by day
until I am small enough, to fall through the cracks.
I just can't stop thinking
This plague of doubt won't go away
My mind is a whirl with a flurry of worries swarming like bees
They feed on the residue left by my lost love's honey
The sweetness gone rotton left to swelter in the heat of angry words
I walk alone in this wonderland of grief where my screams are not heard
covered by cuts from double edged swords
weilded by people who don't give a damn
I am tired and wasted from too much caring
Nothing left to offer I have already given everything
Still I move on, too scared of what will happen if i stop and look back
and catch my reflection in a pool in a puddle
Freezing in horror when faced with the image of what i have become.
